Celebrating 150 years
In 2012 the Canterbury A&P Association is celebrating its 150th Show. A significant milestone in the Association’s history, the Anniversary will be celebrated with the entire country through events/activities targeted at showcasing all that Canterbury has to offer whilst also creating legacy projects that will have long term benefits for the showing movement and local community.

The Canterbury A&P Show is the premier event in New Zealand’s agricultural and entertainment programme.

The 2012 Canterbury A&P Show will be held Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 November.

To help co-ordinate the programme of events for the celebrations a 150th Anniversary Sub-Committee has been formed. The Sub-Committee is dedicated to recognising and rewarding all of our loyal supporters throughout the years.

150th Show Projects/Events
Restoration of the Treasurer’s Hut
The Treasurer’s Hut, a Christchurch Heritage Protected Building, was originally a key feature at the entranceway of the Addington Showgrounds. It was the only major item that was moved when the Show relocated to Canterbury Agricultural Park in 1997. The building has been re-positioned within the Showgrounds and will be fully restored to celebrate the 150th Canterbury A&P Show. The project has been funded with support from The Canterbury Community Trust, Christchurch City Council Heritage Incentive Grant, Mainland Foundation, Eureka Trust and Canterbury A&P Association.

Commemorative Book: History of the Canterbury A&P Association
A book marking the Anniversary and charting the history of the Canterbury A&P Association and the Show will be published and available for purchase in the lead up to the 2012 Show. The book will commemorate the history of the Show including coverage of past Shows, former Presidents of the Canterbury A&P Association, plus highlights from Shows past and present. Memorabilia and photos for inclusion in the book are currently being collected. If you have anything of interest please contact the Show Office on 03 343 3033.

Commemorative Whisky
Members and supporters will have the opportunity to purchase a very special commemorative 150th branded whisky. The 150th Sub-Committee put considerable effort into the selection of the whisky so they are sure to be very popular with members. To place your order, complete the attached order form and return to the Canterbury A&P Association. Limited quantities available.  

150th Launch Function
A launch function was held at the 2011 Canterbury A&P Show announcing the key Anniversary projects/events to members, committees, sponsors and other stakeholders. Patrons for the 150th celebrations were recognised.
 
Anniversary Dinner
A very special Anniversary event is planned prior to the 2012 Show. This will be an opportunity for members and those who have a close association with the event to celebrate the Anniversary. More information will be available soon.  

2012 Canterbury A&P Show
The 150th Sub-Committee will be working closely with all livestock and equestrian sections to encourage special features, review judging and look for ways to better promote the Anniversary in 2012.
