Still not quite sure on whether membership is for you? We caught up with a few of our current members and asked just why they feel being a member of the Association is the right choice.
Supporting the Event We Love
“Spring in Canterbury would not be Spring without the Show and our showgrounds are a treasure for Christchurch riders and farmers. I choose to be a member to show my gratitude to those in the past who created this wonderful event and venue, and to support all those who continue the tradition – committee, competitors, judges, helpers and stall-holders.” Sandy.
Competing for Over 100 Years
“I thoroughly enjoy my time at the Show every year, as it has all the variety that you could wish for. As Camper Van Parker’s we are never far away and the facilities provided are excellent. We look forward to coming to this year’s Show, our family has been attending for years and we have a few trophies and medals from the Show dating back to the 1890s!” Murray.
61 Visits and Counting
“I have been a Member of the Association for 62 years, my late father made me a junior member when I was 2 years. I have only ever missed one show in my lifetime, so in all I have been 63 times. My father was the same right up until he died aged 94. As a child my parents were always in the first row of the members’ car park every day at the old and the new show grounds. It is the best show in the South Island by far, and I have exhibited at a lot of them over the years. I am a Member to support Keeping up the good work with the Show, as it is getting better every year!” Henry
A Chance to Socialise & Shop!
We enjoy the Show because it’s an opportunity to meet up with many fellow exhibitors who we see each year. The competition can be fierce but the camaraderie is always warm. We love taking young people to the Show and seeing their excitement as first-time exhibitors. Sometimes, it is also the first time they have been to an A&P Show and the experience and thrill they get from competing and being part of the showing community is great to see. It opens gateways for them to possible careers. The range of trade displays and show deals is unequalled. Always something to learn – and often something to buy!” Philip & Kay.
