There’s a new competition in town to fill the showgrounds with smokey deliciousness and tantalise your tastebuds.
BBQ competitions are serious business and teams will come together from all over New Zealand to show that they are kings or queens of the grill, with each painstakingly perfect brisket slow-cooked overnight and served within the ten-minute judging window on the Friday of the Show. Thursday will also see a quick cook event, featuring mouthwatering steak, chicken wings and more.
Although spectators are not allowed to try the goods, the smell alone is enough reason to come along and see these guys in action. And we just may have an announcement shortly on how you can satisfy the meat cravings this event will bring…’Let There Be Meat’!
Are you interested in entering ‘Let there Be Meat’? There will be a quick cooks competition held on Thursday, giving you the chance to whip up bloody marys, chicken wings, anything on a stick, steak or a one bite challenge. The Friday will be the low and slow portion of the comp, with chicken, pork, pork ribs, beef and promoters choice.
