There’s a new competition in town to fill the showgrounds with smokey deliciousness and tantalise your tastebuds.
BBQ competitions are serious business and teams will come together from all over New Zealand to show that they are kings or queens of the grill, with each painstakingly perfect brisket slow-cooked overnight and served within the ten-minute judging window on the Friday of the Show. Thursday will also see a quick cook event, featuring mouthwatering steak, chicken wings and more.
Want a taste of the action? Although spectators are not allowed to try the goods, the smell will definitely get your craving for BBQ going. We will have the team from The Smokin’ Que on site selling yummy BBQ goods, from brisket to pulled pork potato boats…this is an area of the Show not to be missed!
Are you interested in entering ‘Let there Be Meat’? There will be a quick cooks competition held on Thursday, giving you the chance to whip up bloody marys, chicken wings, anything on a stick, steak or a one bite challenge. The Friday will be the low and slow portion of the comp, with chicken, pork, pork ribs, beef and promoters choice.
The New Zealand Agricultural Show is run by the Canterbury A&P Association.
The Canterbury A&P Association is a membership based organisation, which celebrated 150 years in 2012. The Association's mission is to further the progress of agriculture in Canterbury and New Zealand, through the annual New Zealand Agricultural Show.
