Schools At The Show

Save The Date, The Show is Back!

November 15th - 17th 2023

The country is coming back to town this November and we would like to invite your school to attend The 2023 New Zealand Agricultural Show, proudly brought to you by the Canterbury A&P Association. We are delighted to announce that once again thanks to the Kiwi Gaming Foundation, children under the age of 16 will be able to attend this year’s Show for FREE!

A day out at The Show means a day packed full of entertainment and educational opportunities for students of all ages! And let’s not forget the huge amount of fun on offer too! You’re bound to have an experience like no other! Schools are invited to attend on Wednesday, 15 November or Thursday, 16 November at discounted rates!

The Show provides an excellent opportunity for children to see day-to-day aspects of farming life, learn about the food chain, animals and speak directly to people from the rural community – an experience many urban children aren’t exposed to and are not likely to forget in a hurry!

We have a real focus on education and fun for children throughout The Show, and we want to give every child in Canterbury the opportunity to come along and experience it!

Experiences We Offer!

Hazlett Farmyard
Pet, feed and learn about a variety of farmyard animals. There’ll be plenty of farmers around to answer any of the farmyard questions!

Children's Shearing
Our world-class professional shearers will participate in demonstrations and give children the opportunity to have a go, albeit with stuffed toy sheep!

Fun Kids Activities
The Show is all about getting stuck in and having a go! We have a host of fun FREE activities to keep kids active and entertained.

Equestrian Events
Equestrian competitions are held all day in the Main Arena. A great spot to enjoy lunch while watching top Equestrians and their steads compete.

Sit right next to the action and watch the dirt fly as Australasia’s best race over man made obstacles!

Rare Breeds
Here you’ll find some of the less common animals used on New Zealand farms!

Agricultural Awareness
The Show is a fantastic opportunity to experience first-hand many of the day-to-day aspects of farming life including - shearing displays, animal exhibitions, machinery demonstrations and more!

Dog Trials
Farm dogs are an important part of everyday life on many New Zealand farms. Watch in awe as they round up stock and shift sheep through gates into pens!

Live Entertainment
With multiple stages we’ve got it all, singing, dancing, face painting, giveaways and more! There’s always something on at the NZAG Show!

We will also be offering free parking to all vehicles transporting school groups to the site, this includes buses, vans, vehicles of parent helpers etc. Tickets to attend The Show will open later in the year, but for now feel free to send us an email to be notified when tickets go on sale and make sure to mark the date in your calendars!
