The Wool and Fibre Section comprises of sheep fleeces – including crossbred, merino, black and coloured as well as mohair and alpaca.
The Alpaca Fleece section usually attracts an entry of around 80 or more alpaca fleeces from both the Suris and Huacayas.
The New Zealand Agricultural Show exhibit 120 plus fleeces from all over the South Island, with the Merino Section by far the strongest, mainly due fine wool values being far stronger than the strong wools. The black, coloured and mohair competitions continue to grow, with strong local support for the event.
This is a small window into the wonderful attributes of wool for so many industries within New Zealand and the display comes highly recommended and is a popular attraction at the Show.
